Acupuncture is a gentle, yet powerful treatment method that can be used to treat a wide range of ailments.
Kia ora
My name is Collin Blake
I am a Registered Acupuncturist with the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand living in Otepoti, Dunedin. For those of you not from around here, that is on the South Island of New Zealand, know in Te Reo Maori as Te Waipounamou.
I was born and raised in the United States of America, and have been fortunate to live around the world working in hospitality, agriculture, and education. In 2018, I moved to New Zealand to study acupuncture and be closer to my family, including my brother, his lovely wife, and their 4 young boys, affectionately known as ‘the little homies.’
I currently live near Blueskin Bay with my family, and am honoured to be able to provide acupuncture treatments for a wide range of ailments to the lovely and colourful people of the South. I offer one-on-one private sessions at the Taste Nature Integrated Health Clinic every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am - 4:30pm. I also provide community acupuncture treatments on Friday, currently at the Waitati Hall, from 10-2pm. This will change over the holidays, so if you are interested in community acupuncture please check to see when the next community acupuncture times will be here.
I am also happy to do house calls calls when appropriate. If you would like to enquire about a home visit, please do so here.
Outside of the clinic I love to spend time with my family and friends, especially when we are out surfing, rock climbing, or playing music.
Mission and Vision
My mission is to provide safe and effective acupuncture treatments to all members of the community, while striving to remove social and economic barriers to treatment.
My vision for South Island Acupuncture is to establish a clinic that treats all members of the community regardless of their ailments, social, or economic backgrounds. Once the Dunedin private clinic and community clinics are established I would like to expand South Island Acupuncture to include private and community clinics in more rural settings, allowing everyone on the South Island to experience the powerful healing effects of this medicine.
Community acupuncture is a great chance for people to receive acupuncture treatments in a relaxed setting. By allowing for several people to be treated at once, on a first come first serve basis, patients are able to drop in without needing an appointment. Since the community treatments are by Koha (donation) it allows people to get weekly treatments at a rate they can comfortably afford.

Benefits of Acupuncture •
Relieve pain
Acupuncture is well known for it’s ability to treat musculoskeletal pain, including knee pain, back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain. Acupuncture can also help reduce pain from headaches, osteoarthritis, and plantar fasciitis.
Improve digestion
Acupuncture and moxibustion are great tools to help regulate and improve digestive function.
Regulate menstrual cycles
Acupuncture can help to reduce pain and discomfort, as well as help regulate the timing of menstrual cycles.
Improve sleep quality
Acupuncture can be very helpful in treating insomnia, or poor disrupted sleep.
Reduce anxiety
Life can often be difficult to navigate and cause excess worry and anxiety. Acupuncture sessions are generally very calming and relaxing, with most patients feeling relaxed for many days after a session.
Regulate “strange” symptoms
Many people come to acupuncture after struggling to find support or relief in traditional Allopathic settings. If doctors have told you, “you are fine,” or “there is nothing wrong,” but you know you feel unwell, acupuncture may be able to help.
